Title: Simulation of Dena Car in GT-SUITE Software to Calculate and Reduce Pollution in Cold Start in New European Driving Cycle (NEDC)

Keywords: Internal Combustion Engine, After Purifier, Cold Start, Air Pollution, Catalyst Converter

Abstract: In recent decades, the use of personal vehicles has increased, which in addition to increasing fuel consumption, has led to the production of toxic gases and pollutants. Converting harmful exhaust gases from the engine into non-harmful and healthy compounds is the most important task of the catalyst. So the catalyst can convert up to 90% of the contaminants into harmless substances, but to convert the contaminants into healthy compounds, the catalyst temperature must be between 400 and 600 degrees Celsius. Therefore, after turning on the car, the catalyst must be heated to enable it to convert pollutants. The warm-up time for the catalyst is about 90 seconds, during which time the catalyst does not function properly, and most of the car pollution is related to this time. In this project, using GT-SUITE software, a Dena car has been completely simulated, and the amount of emissions in a driving cycle has been calculated. Complete information about the Dena Plus car has been received from Iran Khodro Motor Research Company (IPCO). The car is fully integrated into the engine, transmission, exhaust, and aftertreatment included in the software. For the aftertreatment part, all the reactions performed in the catalyst are simulated, and the effective coefficients in the reaction rate are optimized by the genetic algorithm method, and the pollution results of the simulated vehicle are at two points from The exhaust system, one after the engine and one after the catalyst, is compared with the experimental results and the simulation is fully validated.
